*** Wintune 95 Beta 3 (8/30/95) ***
Thank you for testing Wintune 95. This file lists the
common problems you may have. Please read it before
posting questions. Thanks.
Wintune95 is meant only for the release version
(build 950) of Windows 95 and for Windows NT 3.51.
Windows 3.1 is not supported.
============
INSTALLATION
============
There isn't an installation utility yet, but it's
pretty simple to do manually. Unzip the files to
their own directory, then run WINTUN95.EXE. You can
drag the EXE file to your Start button or desktop
to create a shortcut and make it easy to launch.
Missing DLLs
------------
One earlier beta tester reported that they could
not start Wintune; they got a message that some
MFCXXX.DLL files were missing. These usually come
with Windows 95 but apparently they aren't always
installed. If you have this problem, please post a
message saying what file it says you need and how
you installed Windows 95 (Typical, Portable, Custom,
Minimum, or whatever). We'll make the necessary
files available as a separate download.
======================
PLEASE DO THIS *FIRST*
======================
1) Run WINTUN95.EXE
2) Click the "Analyze This System Now" button.
3) Select File/ExportAll from the menu.
4) Use a file name of <YourEmailID>.WTX; truncate
it to 8 characters and convert "," to "-".
5) Upload to the Windows Magazine forum on AOL or
CIS, Wintune95 section.
6) *Now* you can experiment!

KNOWN BUGS/PROBLEMS
===================
We're aware of (and going to fix) these items, so
you don't need to post problem reports about them.
Tips
----
These aren't implemented yet, and the ones that do
come up aren't necessarily right for your system.
We can't finish the tips until we get a good cross-
section of results from YOU. Once we know what's
normal and what's not, we can give tips for the
unusual cases. So if you want tips, send in your
WTX file!
General issues
--------------
* Can't add a description for the system.
* Can't save multiple runs from same PC in database;
save results to WTX as a workaround.
* Tips are not saved in the WTX file.
* There is no help file. (As if you'd read it :-)
Basics tab
----------
* Can't get tip text that you see in Details.
Charts tab
----------
* Perspective on graph needs changing.
* Bar coloring and labeling isn't right yet.
* Neither are the captions.
* Printing is not implemented.
* Entries for some items are duplicated
(e.g. two "Video speed" bars for the same system)
Reports tab
-----------
* Need an "All Details" and "Highlights" report.
* Transpose rows/cols so systems are on top.
* Disk report needs more information added.
* Allow copying some/all of report to clipboard.
* Printing is not implemented.
* Tips are not listed on any report format.
Details tab
-----------
* Right-click menu needs more options.
* Can't test floppy or network drive.
* Damn, those yellow stars are ugly!

APPS ANALYZER
=============
Wintune 95 has the ability to run applications
and time how long they take to run. It can also
save information that the application puts onto
the clipboard. See the file APPSANLZ.TXT for
more information.

SUPPORT
=======
We'll be taking feedback and answering questions in
both the America Online and Compuserve WinMag forums
in the Wintune95 folder/section. Please stop by.
Since many people may have the same questions, we'll
be discouraging direct email. It's better for all the
beta testers to share their experiences. We can
answer everyone with one message in the forums, which
saves effort and leaves us more time to improve
Wintune 95.
Again, thanks for testing Wintune 95!
